Now this is a month we enjoy. It might be cold, it might even snow but it is the month of all the local Wine Salons. Here is a rare shot of Nicolas Joly at the Renaissance du Vin in Angers. Monsieur Joly is the leading name in biodynamic farming methods for his vines. He has 14.5 hectares of chenin blanc and produces the extremely fine Coulee de Serrant from his estate in Savennieres. The wines are claiimed to be some of the finest expressions of dry chenin to be found in the world. The Coulee de Serrant being loaded with subtle citrus, mineral and flint.
Later on in the week is the Salon du Vins for the whole of the Valley of the Loire. This is a great opportunity to taste the latest vintages, discover new wines and catch up with old friends. I took this picture because I had been dicussing with Sue whether it would be possible to produce sparkling wine in a traditional lemonade bottle. We decided not because of the pressure but low and behold Mattieu at Chateau Yvonne has proved us wrong with his L'Yvonnade. Come on a wine tour and we can take you there to try it!
Here is our friend Celine of Clos Cristal pouring her latest sparkling offering of chenin blanc produced by the "Methode Ancestralle". Clos Cristal have traditionally produced organic Saumur Champigny red wines but conditions over the last year have also enabled then to start producing some white wines.
